Baker & Daniels is proud to announce that Arthur Perschetz, a leading practitioner in captive insurance and related alternative risk mechanisms, has joined the law firm. He also will serve as a senior advisor with B&D Consulting, an advisory and advocacy division of Baker & Daniels.

Arthur brings decades of legal and consulting experience in the insurance industry. A pioneer in the captive insurance industry in the District of Columbia, he was actively involved in drafting the captive insurance laws of Washington, which are generally recognized as the most forward thinking in the United States.

Arthur's expertise in regulatory and lobbying matters includes company and agency formation, acquisitions, sales and mergers. He also advises clients on corporate restructuring alternatives such as demutualizations and mutual holding company reorganizations, as well as matters involving redomestication and a wide range of holding company issues. Additionally, Arthur counsels clients on bank insurance sales programs, including Internet-related sales matters.

Arthur was previously the senior legal officer for the U.S. operations of two major insurance companies, located in New York/Charlotte, N.C., and Baltimore and has practiced law for the past 10 years in Washington, D.C. He was formerly chairman of the Captive Insurance Council of the District of Columbia and is currently a lecturer at the International Center for Captive Insurance Education. Arthur also has served on several National Association of Insurance Commissioners industry advisory committees and on the boards of directors of insurance guaranty associations.
