Artex Acquires Champlain Captive Management
January 20, 2010: Artex Risk Solutions, Inc. (Artex) has acquired Champlain Captive Management, LLC (Champlain) based in Burlington, Vermont. Champlain was established in 1983 by Fred Hackett, one of the original supporters of Vermont’s pioneering captive legislation. Champlain currently manages 12 captives: 10 in Vermont, 1 in Hawaii and 1 in DC. The newly combined operation will be headed by Kevin Heffernan, Division Vice President, with Mr. Hackett remaining on in the role of non-executive Chairman.
