A chart on the total number of active captive insurance companies was compiled by Strategic Risk Solutions (SRS) and presented at the recent SRS webinar "2017—A Pivotal Year for the Captive Market." Active captive counts in Bermuda, Cayman, and 18 US domiciles were estimated and are listed below. The overall active captive count for all of the domiciles reported increased 4.4 percent from 3,987 in 2015 to 4,163 at the end of 2016.
