Abbreviation Full Name/Description
AGRIP Association of Governmental Risk Pools. The mission of this association is "...to unite the pooling community to achieve excellence in pooling management, operations and services."

The American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters and the Insurance Institute of America (IIA) are independent, nonprofit organizations offering educational programs and professional certification to people in all segments of the property and liability insurance business.
AIRMIC Association of Insurance and Risk Managers. AIRMIC has a membership of nearly 850 and represents the insurance buyers for about 75% of the FTSE 100, as well as very substantial representation in the mid 250 and other smaller companies. AIRMIC members control about £5 billion annually of insurance premium spend. A further £2billion of premium spend is allocated to captive insurance companies within member organisations. Additionally, members are responsible for the payment of insurance claims from their company finances to the value of at least £2 billion per year.
ARRC ARRC is a membership based coalition of industry trade associations, Risk Retention/Purchasing Group and Captive owners, service providers and excess and reinsurance carriers and intermediaries, and is affiliated with the Self-Insurance Institute of America (SIIA). AARC was formed in response to the United States General Accounting Office (GAO) report commissioned by Congress relative to the Liability Risk Retention Act of 1986. The purpose of ARRC is to address the issues raised in the GAO report and work with members of Congress to enhance and strengthen the LRRA.

DCIA Delaware Captive Insurance Association
DIMA Dublin International Insurance & Management Association
ECIROA The European Captive Insurance and Reinsurance Owners` Association has as object the protection and support of the captive industry as well as representation of its members in discussions with official, regulatory bodies. The Association is aimed at being a forum for captive owners where these can exchange experience across border, business sector or line of insurance business. Membership is open to any European company owning a captive.
FERMA The Federation of European Risk Management Associations. FERMA exists to widen and raise the culture of Risk Management throughout Europe to its members and to the risk management and insurance community. It achieves its aims by promotion and raising awareness of risk management through the media, by information sharing, educational and research projects.
GCIA Georgia Captive Insurance Association. Since 1998, GCIA has been a non-profit corporation under Georgia law, representing the collective interests of captive insurance companies in the state. GCIA welcomes captive insurance company members as well as non-captive associate members who wish to work to promote Georgia as a domicile for captive insurance companies. GIIA Guernsey International Insurance Association. The Guernsey Insurance Company Management Association (GICMA) - subsequently renamed The Guernsey International Insurance Association (GIIA) - was formed in 1983 to represent the combined interests of both Guernsey insurers and Guernsey insurance managers.

The Guernsey insurance industry is dominated by captive insurance, at least in terms of the number of licensed insurers operating from the island. Almost all of these captive insurers are run by licensed insurance managers.

IFRIMA

The International Federation of Risk and Insurance Management Associations (IFRIMA) is the international umbrella organization for risk management associations, representing 23 organizations and over 30 countries around the world.  With its roots going back to the 1930s and its development through the discipline of insurance and risk management, IFRIMA is uniquely positioned as a leader in risk management and its application.

As an "association of associations", IFRIMA's primary objective is to provide a forum for interaction and communications among risk management associations and their members.

IOM Captive The Isle of Man Captive Association represents the interests of Isle of Man captive managers and owners. The association states its mission clearly on their website: "To promote and develop the Isle of Man as a quality domicile for captive and general insurance business." The website is excellent and easy to navigate.
